This innovative approach to CBD combines The CBD Brothers 16.4% whole-plant CBD extract with a water-soluble carrier. The result is a 4% CBD/CBDa concentration that can be easily added to food or drink and placed straight under your tongue with no oily texture. The 10ml bottle contains 400mg of CBD and CBDa extract blended with:

Each 10ml bottle comes with a pump that can deliver 8mg of CBD/CBDa in 0.2ml of liquid. The pump provides each measure in one smooth action and stops you from having to count out drops. The CBDa present in the extract is the acidic precursor to CBD and can also be found in raw hemp flowers.

What is water-soluble CBD?

Water soluble CBD is a recently developed method of mixing CBD extract into water. Cannabinoids are usually fat-soluble, with molecules that dissolve easily into fatty substances like oils. To make them water soluble, manufacturers use emulsifiers or soundwaves to break them apart into microscopic nanoparticles.

Once in these tiny pieces, water molecules can fit between them, allowing them to dissolve in water effectively. The water-soluble CBD can then pass straight across your gut wall into your blood without needing to be first digested by bile and pancreatic juices.

Next, it passes through your liver where some of the molecules are broken down. Although this does reduce the concentration of the cannabinoids, it’s less than with oils, because it was able to pass straight into your blood.

This type of CBD can be used in water-based products like foods and drinks without the need for a carrier oil. Because the finished product is thinner than most oils, it is ideal for use in sprays or pumps. It's also likely that water soluble CBD increases the amount of the active ingredient to reach your blood, but, as yet, there is no conclusive research to suggest by how much.

To make the extract, The CBD Brothers use only the buds and flowers of organically grown, hybrid hemp plants. The term ‘hybrid’ indicates that the Purple Edition has the characteristics of both Indica and Sativa hemp varieties. Different types of hemp have different combinations of cannabinoids and terpenes. This particular hybrid is Indica-dominant: approximately Indica 70% / Sativa 30%.

The full-spectrum paste which adds the active ingredients to the liquid also contains other cannabinoids alongside CBD and CBDa. This combination of natural plant chemicals and nutrients allows contributes to what is known as the entourage effect.

CBD Brothers - aka The Original Alternative

Known as the oldest producer of cannabis extracts in the UK, the CBD Brothers (aka The Original Alternative), started life in a small one-car garage. To ensure they only produce products of the highest quality, CBD Brothers uses CO2 extraction under low heat and low-pressure conditions. The resulting extracts contain a rich mix of cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, and essential fatty acids.

They are the first to admit that the nature of natural extracts means there may be slight differences from batch to batch, but with the use of third-party lab testing, they maintain impressive standards. The analysis is administered by two independent companies who use state of the art high pressured liquid chromatography (HPLC) machines to detect the contents of each sample.

As of 2022, CBD Brothers have an active Novel Foods application with the Food Standards Agency. This ensures that their supplements can remain on sale legally in the UK.

Suggested use

1 pump (0.2ml) twice per day under the tongue. Hold for 2-3 minutes for maximum absorption and then swallow. Take before breakfast and dinner each day.

We suggest starting with the amount recommended above during the first week. You can increase this by up to 50% each consecutive week until you find the right amount for you.
